About this market

Why Turkish Buyers Buy Russian Wheat, Barley and Corn

Turkey imports more than 5 million tonnes of wheat a year and Russia is its largest supplier. The reason is simple: Russian milling wheat offers the protein and gluten Turkish flour mills need for their bread, flatbread and bulgur production — at a freight advantage no other origin can match across the Black Sea.

MOSTAGRO ships to every major Turkish grain hub. Mersin on the Mediterranean serves the central Anatolian flour belt; the Marmara ports (Ambarli, Izmit, Bandırma) serve the densely populated west and the country's largest feed mills; Samsun and Trabzon handle Black Sea coast distribution.

Short Transit

4–6 days from Novorossiysk to Mersin — faster Black Sea ports are shorter.

Right Protein

12.5% protein wheat is the bread-flour spec Turkish millers blend with local soft wheat.

FAQ

Shipping to Turkey — Common Questions

How long does it take to ship Russian wheat to Turkey?

Transit from Novorossiysk to Mersin is 4–6 days; to the Marmara ports (Ambarli, Izmit) 4–5 days. Black Sea destinations like Samsun are faster at 2–3 days, and Trabzon from Tuapse is just 1–2 days. We coordinate laycan with your discharge slot.

What wheat grade do Turkish flour mills buy?

Most Turkish flour mills buy Russian milling wheat 12.5% as the Black Sea bread-flour stem — wet gluten, falling number and test weight sit on the spec with protein. 11.5% and 13.5% are also milling wheat. Feed wheat is a separate animal-feed grade.

Can you supply feed barley for Turkish compound feed?

Yes. Russian feed barley for animal feed is specified on test weight min. 62 kg/hl (620 g/L), moisture max. 14% and foreign matter max. 2%. Protein is contractual. We ship bulk or bagged, FOB Novorossiysk or CIF Mersin, Marmara and Izmir. Malting barley and food grade barley are separate grades.

How is payment handled?

Settlement is via digital-asset escrow. Funds are locked at contract signing and released automatically against the shipping documents (B/L, phytosanitary, certificate of origin, SGS inspection). No bank letter of credit is required.
