Reading the Black Sea–Morocco freight series

Morocco imports wheat through Casablanca and Jorf Lasfar under an import-duty regime that shifts with the domestic harvest, and takes Handysize cargoes. French wheat is the traditional supplier; Black Sea wheat competes when the FOB spread covers the longer voyage.

The rate went from 28 to 76 USD/MT — a rise of 48 dollars, the largest absolute gain on the freight board, shared with the Tunisia/Algeria and Libya lines. Low was the first print, high the last, and the largest weekly step +17 on 29 August, so the series was still rising at the end of the archive.

The Morocco, Tunisia/Algeria and Libya Handysize rates printed within a dollar of each other for the whole period; the source treats them as one Maghreb market with small port differentials.
