Reading the Black Sea–Europe freight series

This is the Panamax rate from the Black Sea to Continental European ports — the route used when Black Sea corn or feed wheat is sold into Northern European compounders. It is longer than the East Spain leg and passes Gibraltar.

The rate moved from 28 to 37 USD/MT: low 27 on 14 February, high 37 on 22 August, largest weekly step +7 on 8 August. Like the Spain corridor it rose modestly compared with the Turkey and North Africa routes.

The Europe–Spain differential stayed at 4–6 dollars throughout, which is the usual extra sailing time. Both are useful for translating a Black Sea FOB corn price into a CIF Europe comparison with French or Romanian origin.
