Reading the Argentine wheat series

Argentine 12% wheat is quoted FOB Upriver — the Paraná river terminals around Rosario. It is a Southern-Hemisphere crop harvested in December–January, so its export peak falls in the Black Sea's off-season, which is why it appears here as a counter-seasonal reference.

The mid rose from 220 to 262.5 USD/MT over the archive (+42.5, about 19%). The low was 217.5 on 7 February, the high the final print on 29 August, and the biggest weekly step +12.5 on 9 May. In late January it sat 12.5 dollars under the Russian 12.5% line; by the end of August it was 45 dollars above.

River draft limits at Upriver ports restrict vessel loading, so a like-for-like comparison with a deep-water Black Sea port should allow for top-off costs or smaller stems.
