Reading the Argentine feed barley series

Argentine barley is harvested in December–January and exported FOB Upriver from the Paraná terminals. It is the Southern-Hemisphere counterpart to Black Sea barley and reaches the same Middle-East feed buyers in the months when Black Sea old-crop supply is thinnest.

The series rose from 232.5 to 267.5 USD/MT (+35, about 15%). It held 232.5–242.5 through spring, eased to its low of 222.5 on 18 July, then posted the largest weekly move on the barley board — +40 USD/MT — on the final scan of 29 August, which is also the high.

A single 40-dollar week should be read with care: the source printed a wider or shifted range rather than a gradual repricing, so the previous weeks are the better guide to the level.
