Reading the Argentine soybean meal series

Argentina is the world's largest soybean meal exporter, crushing at the Rosario hub and shipping FOB Upriver. The standard Argentine Hipro grade is 47% protein — one point below the US and Brazilian 48% grades, which is part of the reason it usually trades at a discount.

The series rose from 325 to 395 USD/MT (+70, about 22%). The low was the first print, the high the last, and the largest weekly step +25 on the final scan of 29 August — the same week Brazilian meal also printed +25.

Argentine and Brazilian meal alternated as the cheapest grade (Argentina was lower or level in 22 of 31 weeks); against US Gulf meal it was 22.5 dollars under in January and 10 under in August. It is the origin most often landed in the Middle East and North Africa alongside Black Sea grain.
