Reading the Brazilian soybean series

Brazil is the world's largest soybean exporter; its harvest runs February–May and its export peak March–July, so this archive covers the heart of the Brazilian selling season. China is the dominant buyer.

The mid rose from 415 to 517.5 USD/MT (+102.5, about 25%). The low was the first print on 31 January, the high the final print on 29 August, and the largest weekly step +20 on 25 July. By the end of August Brazilian beans were quoted level with US Gulf beans.

For Black Sea trade the soybean complex is context rather than product: it sets the protein price that soybean meal, sunflower meal and rapeseed meal are priced against.
