Reading the Texas sorghum series

US sorghum is grown mainly in Kansas and Texas and exported through Texas Gulf ports, historically to China and Mexico. It is the larger of the two sorghum origins on the board and the one closer to the US corn price.

The series rose from 222.5 to 257.5 USD/MT (+35, about 16%). The low was 212.5 on 13 June — the same week US Gulf corn set its low — and the high the final print on 29 August. The largest weekly move was a 15-dollar drop on 4 April.

Texas sorghum carried a premium over US Gulf corn that reached 25 dollars in late March, briefly turned into a 5.5-dollar discount on 11 July, and ended at 10. Against Argentine sorghum the premium was 22.5 dollars in January and 25 in August.
