Reading the Black Sea–Egypt 30,000 MT freight series

The 30,000 MT stem is the size used by many private Egyptian mills and by tenders that split volume across several vessels. It loads on Handysize/Supramax tonnage and is normally a dollar or two dearer per ton than the Panamax stem on the same route.

The series went from 20 to 60 USD/MT. The low was 18 on 30 May, the high 60 on 22 August after a 15-dollar week — the largest single step on this corridor. The 29 August print held 60.

For a mill comparing a 30,000 MT cargo with a share of a Panamax, the premium in this archive stayed small in dollars per ton; the trade-off is storage and financing at discharge, not ocean freight.
