Reading the Black Sea–Bangladesh freight series

Bangladesh buys wheat through government tenders and private millers, discharging at Chittagong and Mongla. Draft limits at both ports mean Panamax cargoes are often lightered, which the quoted rate does not include. Black Sea wheat is a regular supplier alongside Indian and Australian origin.

The rate rose from 42 to 80 USD/MT (+38), the same start and end levels as the China route. Low was the first print, high the last, and the largest weekly step +16 on 8 August.

Bangladesh tenders specify CFR, so this rate plus the Russian 12.5% FOB series gives the indicative landed level; at the end of the archive freight accounted for over a quarter of that total.
