Reading the DDGS series

Distillers dried grains with solubles are the co-product of corn ethanol production. "35 profat" means protein and fat together make up 35% — the standard export specification. DDGS is a feed ingredient for cattle, pigs and poultry and competes with corn gluten feed and with soybean meal on a protein basis.

The mid rose from 240 to 265 USD/MT (+25, about 10%), but with a large dip: the high of 265 was first printed on 11 April, the series fell to a low of 221.5 on 20 June — a 31-dollar week, the largest move on this series — and recovered to 265 by the end of August.

DDGS traded above US Gulf corn throughout the archive, by 25 dollars in January and 17.5 in August, and above corn gluten feed for most of the summer. The three feed co-product series are best read as a set.
