Reading the corn gluten meal series

Corn gluten meal is the high-protein co-product of corn wet milling — roughly 60% protein — used in poultry, pet food and aquaculture rations. It prices off protein content, so it sits nearer soybean meal than corn.

Thirty scans are archived. The mid rose from 600 to 687.5 USD/MT (+87.5, about 15%). The low was 572.5 on 7 March; the high, 695, came on 18 July together with the largest weekly move on the whole feed board (+47.5). The series then gave back a few dollars into late August.

At 1.5–1.85 times the price of US Gulf soybean meal through the archive, CGM is a specialty protein rather than a bulk substitute. The sister series — corn gluten feed and DDGS — cover the lower-protein co-products from the same plants.
