Reading the Romanian 12.5% wheat series

Romanian wheat loads mainly through Constanța and is the EU-origin alternative to Russian wheat for Mediterranean and Middle-East buyers who want the same 12.5% protein without a non-EU origin. It ships on the same Handysize and Panamax stems and to the same discharge ports.

The series rose from 237.5 to 287.5 USD/MT between 31 January and 29 August 2026 — a gain of 50 USD/MT, or about 21%. The low was 232.5 on 7 February, the high was the final print, and the largest weekly move was +20 on 18 July. It started the period 5 dollars above the Russian 12.5% line and ended 70 dollars above it.

That widening premium is the practical takeaway: a buyer pricing EU-origin against Black Sea origin should check the spread on the week of the enquiry rather than assume a fixed differential.
