FOB Grain: The Buyer Nominates the Vessel

FOB means the grain is loaded on the vessel the buyer nominates, at the named port. Export clearance, loading and SGS at the load port sit on the seller's side of the logistics table. Freight, insurance, discharge and demurrage after NOR on the buyer's vessel sit on the buyer's side.

The usual named port is Novorossiysk. Tuapse and Taman are the sister load ports. The full route note is FOB Novorossiysk grain export. If the buyer wants freight and insurance included, the term is CIF to a discharge port, not FOB.

What does the buyer still pay on FOB?

Ocean freight, insurance, post-loading risk, discharge and demurrage after NOR on the buyer's vessel. The seller loads at the named port.
